About Spirit Church
Who We Are and What We Stand For
Our statement of faith
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit lives in every believer, guiding, comforting, and empowering us to live for Jesus. He produces His fruit in our lives, gives spiritual gifts to build the Church, and enables us to boldly share the gospel.
We also believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, a filling of God’s power promised by Jesus to equip His people for ministry, revival, and bold witness.
Acts 1:8; John 14:16–17; Galatians 5:22–23; Joel 2:28–29; Acts 2:1–4
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God—alive, true, and timeless. It is our ultimate authority for what we believe and how we live.
2 Timothy 3:16; Psalm 119:105; Hebrews 4:12
God – Father, Son & Holy Spirit
We believe in one God, eternally existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—co-equal and co-eternal.
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is fully God and fully human. He was born of a virgin, lived without sin, performed miracles, died on the cross for our sins, rose from the dead, and ascended to heaven. One day, He will return to establish His Kingdom forever.
Matthew 28:19; John 1:1,14; Philippians 2:5–11; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4; Acts 1:9–11
Repentance & Salvation
Repentance is turning from sin and trusting in Jesus. Salvation is God’s free gift of grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ, not through good works. In Him, we are forgiven, made new, and restored into relationship with God.
Ephesians 2:8–9; Romans 10:9–10; Acts 3:19; Titus 3:5
Baptism & Communion
Water baptism is a public declaration of new life in Jesus, identifying with His death, burial, and resurrection.
Communion is a sacred moment of remembering Jesus’ sacrifice and celebrating His victory until He returns.
Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:4; 1 Corinthians 11:23–26
The Church
The Church is the body of Christ and the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit on earth. Every believer is part of God’s family, called to unity, service, and carrying out Jesus’ Great Commission.
Ephesians 2:19–22; 1 Corinthians 12:12–27; Matthew 28:19–20
Marriage
We believe marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, designed by God to reflect Christ’s love for His Church.
Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4–6; Ephesians 5:25–32
Heaven & Hell
Heaven is the eternal home for all who put their trust in Jesus. Hell is eternal separation from God for those who reject Him.
John 14:1–3; Revelation 21:1–5; Matthew 25:46; 2 Thessalonians 1:7–9
Spiritual Gifts
The Holy Spirit gives gifts to believers to strengthen the Church, demonstrate God’s power, and impact the world. These gifts are to be pursued eagerly and stewarded with humility and love.
1 Corinthians 12:4–11; Romans 12:6–8; Ephesians 4:11–12; 1 Peter 4:10
Healing
We believe God still heals today. Healing is seen in the life and ministry of Jesus, was part of the mission of the early Church, and remains a sign of God’s Kingdom breaking in.
Isaiah 53:5; Matthew 8:16–17; James 5:14–16
The Second Coming
We believe Jesus will one day return in power and glory to bring justice, complete His Kingdom, and make all things new.
Matthew 24:30; Acts 1:11; Revelation 21:1–5
As a community, we are committed to living out these beliefs through worship, service, and love, reflecting the transformative power of Jesus in our lives and in the city of New York.

In 2021 God called Karel and Natalie to plant a church in New York City, they responded with a big “YES Lord, use us!” It did not make sense at the time, but they stepped out in faith knowing God had big plans for this incredible city.
From a young age, Natalie had the big apple in her heart and over the decades, God developed in her and Karel, a passion for New York and its people. When the time came, they sold their family home, packed their bags, and left sunny Australia to come to start their lives fully surrendered to God’s will.
"‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty. "
Zechariah 4:6
