Who We Are and What We Stand For
Our statement of faith
At Spirit Church NYC, we believe in:
- THE TRIUNE GOD
We believe in one eternal God who exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is the Creator, Sustainer, and Redeemer of all things, perfect in love, holiness, and justice.
- THE AUTHORITY OF SCRIPTURE
We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It serves as the foundation for our faith and practice, guiding us in truth and righteousness.
- THE LORDSHIP OF JESUS CHRIST
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully God and fully man. Through His life, death, and resurrection, He offers salvation and reconciliation with God to all who believe in Him.
- SALVATION BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH
We believe that salvation is a gift of grace from God, received through faith in Jesus Christ. It is not earned by human effort but is given freely to those who repent and trust in Him.
- THE PRESENCE AND POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe in the active presence of the Holy Spirit, who empowers believers to live holy lives, share the gospel, and build God’s kingdom. The Holy Spirit equips us with spiritual gifts and produces His fruit in our lives.
- THE CHURCH AS THE BODY OF CHRIST
We believe the Church is the community of believers united by faith in Christ. Together, we are called to worship God, serve one another, and share His love with the world.
- THE GREAT COMMISSION
We believe it is our mission to make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything Jesus has commanded.
- THE HOPE OF ETERNAL LIFE
We believe in the return of Jesus Christ, who will establish His eternal kingdom. Believers will experience eternal joy and fellowship with God, while all creation will be restored to its intended glory.
- MARRIAGE IS ESTABLISHED BY GOD
As the Creator made them male and female, He declared, “For this reason, a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two will become one” (Matthew 19:4-5). It is meant to be an exclusive, lifelong covenant of faithfulness between a man and a woman. This union reflects the relationship between Christ and the Church (Ephesians 5:23-30).
As a community, we are committed to living out these beliefs through worship, service, and love, reflecting the transformative power of Jesus in our lives and in the city of New York.
Our Pastors

In 2021 God called Karel and Natalie to plant a church in New York City, they responded with a big “YES Lord, use us!” It did not make sense at the time, but they stepped out in faith knowing God had big plans for this incredible city.
From a young age, Natalie had the big apple in her heart and over the decades, God developed in her and Karel, a passion for New York and its people. When the time came, they sold their family home, packed their bags, and left sunny Australia to come to start their lives fully surrendered to God’s will.
